Launch of Be the Business Programme
20th September 2013

As part of our commitment to support businesses, West Sussex County Council has launched the Be the Business (BtheB) Programme.

The Be the Business programme will offer:

  • One-to-one support to businesses;
  • New funding opportunities for existing businesses to take on higher apprentices.

Be the Business seeks to drive the levels of entrepreneurship, productivity and employment growth within West Sussex. It’s funded by the Kick Start Programme, set up in 2011 to help unlock the potential of the local economy.

The Be the Business programme has two main strands:

  • Be the Business support and grants.
  • Higher Apprenticeship Grants.

The programme of support to businesses will contribute to achieving the long term goals for the economy as reflected in the West Sussex Economic Strategy 2012-2020. These include:

  • Making West Sussex a first class business location;
  • Creating a highly competitive economy and business population;
  • Higher levels of business concentrations;
  • Creating a higher number of accessible jobs that offer a variety of careers for all ages of residents;
  • Sustainable living and working communities; and
  • High levels of investment and levered funding.
