Businesses in West Sussex have access to a range of high quality universities, colleges and centres of excellence, with an extensive track record of working with the private sector. There are numerous opportunities to collaborate on business support and advice; apprenticeships and internships; graduate and post-graduate recruitment; and knowledge transfer and innovation .

  • University of Chichester

    The University of Chichester provides access to facilities, university knowledge and expertise to support business planning and new business incubation. The School of Enterprise, Management and Leadership provides bespoke work-based programmes and consultancy for businesses; encourages new start-ups through business incubation support; and provides a graduate placement, mentoring and coaching programme.  The University also has world leading research expertise in Sport and Exercise Science and a centre for excellence for Food and Drink at Brinsbury.

  • University of Brighton

    The University of Brighton works closely with business on product research and development, staff training and development, innovation, and developing small and medium enterprises. It also has a business school offering undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA programmes, as well as students for work placements.

  • University of Sussex

    The University of Sussex works closely with the business community, government and third sector organisations to develop business solutions and to create opportunities for mutually beneficial knowledge transfer partnerships.  Its  Department of Business and Management offers undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA programmes. The University of Sussex has achieved ‘world class’ research rankings in a range of subjects, including biomedical sciences, art & design and European Studies

  • University of Surrey

    The University of Surrey engages with and develops knowledge transfer partnerships, and provides a range of consultancy services to business. It also has an AACSB accredited business school with 1,800 students. The University has two Industrial Doctorate Centres, the Sustainability for Engineering and Energy Systems (SEES) and the Micro and NanoMaterials and Technologies (MiNMaT).

  • University of Portsmouth

    The University of Portsmouth's Purple Door is the single point of contact for businesses that want to access the university’s services.  It offers workforce training, recruitment, consultancy services, and access to facilities. It also has a Business School, offering a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA programmes, recognised as a centre of excellence by the Institute of Personnel and Development.

  • Chichester College

    Chichester College provides a wide range of further and higher education courses for businesses across all sectors of the economy.  It has two campuses: one in Chichester and another at Brinsbury, which provides specialist food and drink courses for the land-based industries.  It is recognised as a market leader in international education, welcoming more than 2,500 overseas students from 80 different countries every year.

  • Central Sussex College

    Central Sussex College has five campuses in the Gatwick Diamond.  It provides an extensive range of skills training for businesses and its University Centre delivers higher education training in engineering, computing, childcare, teaching and a range of professional and vocational courses such as human resources, management, purchasing, health & social care, hospitality and salon management. Central Sussex is a National Academy Lead Hub for Environmental Technologies. 

  • Northbrook College

    Northbrook College has campuses in Worthing and at Shoreham Airport in Coastal West Sussex. It provides work-related further education in and around Worthing. It also provides higher education in a range of work areas, including the creative and cultural industries. It also provides apprenticeship training and short courses in many industries.

  • Roffey Park

    Roffey Park is an internationally renowned leadership and management institute based in Horsham.  It specialises in leadership, organisational development, human resources and coaching and it provides executive education and research to many of the world’s leading companies and organisations.

  • Sussex Innovation Centre

    The Sussex Innovation Centre is a stimulating location for entrepreneurs, start-ups, growing companies and corporate innovators offering flexible, professional office space and a comprehensive range of in-house support services designed to assist during the vital early years of operation.
