Businesses in Rural West Sussex have access to a range of high quality universities, colleges and centres of excellence, with an extensive track record of working with the private sector.


  • Chichester College provides a wide range of further and higher education courses for businesses across all sectors of the economy.  It has two campuses: one in Chichester and another at Brinsbury, which provides specialist food and drink courses for the land-based industries.  It is recognised as a market leader in international education, welcoming more than 2,500 overseas students from 80 different countries every year.


  • The University of Chichester provides access to facilities, university knowledge and expertise to support business planning and new business incubation. The School of Enterprise, Management and Leadership provides bespoke work-based programmes and consultancy for businesses; encourages new start-ups through business incubation support; and provides a graduate placement, mentoring and coaching programme.  The University also has world leading research expertise in Sport and Exercise Science.


  • Roffey Park is an internationally renowned leadership and management institute based in Horsham.  It specialises in leadership, organisational development, human resources and coaching and it provides executive education and research to many of the world’s leading companies and organisations.


  • The University of Brighton works closely with business on product research and development, staff training and development, innovation, and developing small and medium enterprises. It also has a business school offering undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA programmes, as well as students for work placements.


  • The University of Sussex works closely with the business community, government and third sector organisations to develop business solutions and to create opportunities for mutually beneficial knowledge transfer partnerships.  Its  Department of Business and Management offers undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA programmes. The University of Sussex has achieved ‘world class’ research rankings in a range of subjects, including biomedical sciences, art & design and European Studies


A little further away are the University of Surrey, the University of Portsmouth , Central Sussex College, and Northbrook College.
